Bengal film festival picks Iranian ‘Empty View’ as finalist

The 4th Bengal's Int'l Film Festival in India selects Iranian animation ‘Empty View’ as finalist.

The 4th edition of the Bengal's International Film Festival in India has picked Iranian animation ‘Empty View’ for the final round.

Made by Ali Zare-Qanatnowi, ‘Empty View’ depicts an old woman looking for the return of her missing son from the battle ground of an imposed war.

The animation was designed and produced during two years. It combines the 2D and 3D animation techniques for the first time in Iranian cinema on such scale.

It has won the best animation award at the UK Monthly Film Festival, Best Animation award from the December edition of the Los Angeles Film Awards in the US, Best Short Film Award at the 6th Seoul Guro International Kids Film Festival in South Korea, and an award at the 8th Amsterdam Film Festival in the Netherlands.

The animated piece has also won two awards at the 3rd Best Short Fest in Canada and the 3rd Great Message International Film Festival in India.

Nominated for best animation award at the 2018 Asians on Film Festival in the US, ‘Empty View’ has also gone on screen at the 13th Athens Animfest in Greece and will be screened at the 7th Southampton International Film Festival in the UK.

Aimed to spread the creativity of filmmakers to as many viewers as possible, the 4th edition of the Bengal's International Film Festival is slated for December 21 in Bangalore, India.
